Most low-risk women have midwife-led care and delivery if they don't develop any complications. Consultant-led care deals with complications of pregnancy. If you are at higher risk, you might have shared care with some consultant and midwife appointments but would probably not be a candidate for delivery in a midwife-led centre. Women who have certain medical conditions may have all of their care and delivery managed by a consultant.
Shropshire has five midwifery-led units (MLUs), where you will meet Midwives and Women’s Services Assistants (WSAs) who will care for you throughout your pregnancy.
